Information Evening - Wednesday 15th June 2011

We are holding an Information Evening to provide an opportunity for anyone who has or knows someone with an eating disorder to hear about what we do.  You will get the chance to meet the facilitators of the group and other people in a similar situation and also hear from guest speakers.  The event will be running on:

At: 25 Erleigh Road, Reading, RG1 5LR
From: 6pm-8.30pm

The event is informal so please feel free to drop in at any point during the evening.  We have a guest speaker, a Clinical Psychologist who will be talking about eating disorders and services available and the facilitators of the group will be available to give information about the format of the group, answering questions that you may have.  For more information about the evening, please email us on edsreading@hotmail.com.  We hope to see you there!



***FUNDRAISING UPDATE***

Naomi Biddle, one of the facilitators for the group recently completed a charity bike ride from Whitehaven to Sunderland in order to raise money and awareness of mental health. Online donations were given directly to Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales (www.mind.org.uk) and cash donations have been given directly to the Eating Disorder Support Group in Reading.
So far £70 has been raised and on behalf of all the facilitators we would like to say THANK YOU to all who sponsored Naomi for the bike ride. The money will go towards a new mobile phone so that we can continue to provide the telephone line on Wednesday evenings. The rest of the money will go towards a promotional night and guest speakers.


July 1st 2010- Research Participation Opportunity

In part fulfillment of the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology which she undertaking at City University London, Gabriella Brady is conducting research into therapist disclosure of personal recovery from an eating disorder experienced by the eating disorder client. 

She is looking for particpants for this- If you are interested in taking part please find attached her recruitment poster and additional information.

July 26th 2010- Charity Bike Ride
Naomi, one of our facilitators, is cycling from Whitehaven to Sunderland over two days (this is over 135 miles!) and would like to raise awareness and money for Mind (www.mind.org.uk). Mind is mental health charity that helps to support and advice people with mental health difficulties and their families/carers.

In addition to this, she is hoping to raise some cash for the local eating disorder support group in Reading. Any cash donations will go to this and will help us to promote the group. We need to purchase a mobile phone in order to continue to provide telephone support so any donations will be greatly recieved!
