About Eating Disorders Support Reading
Eating Disorders Support Reading has been running since November 2004. We offer a safe, supportive and friendly environment for those recovering from eating disorders and for those caring for people with eating disorders. We meet weekly and the groups always welcome new members. All you need is an open attitude and a willingness to listen to other people's stories. Due to the nature of the groups we are unable to offer therapy or advice, but instead offer a forum to gain and give valuable support. We offer the realisation that there are others out there who have experienced similar situations and feelings.
Initially, the group was open only to recoverers but we swiftly realised there were others involved who offered vital emotional support for the recoverer… mums, dads, partners, friends and others were also clearly affected. As we were contacted by more and more carers to find out about the group, we realised that this was an important group of people who needed support as well.
